FAQ

Common questions about this service

What is the RBI Fair Practices Code?+
It's the set of rules every regulated lender in India must follow when dealing with borrowers — from how loans are sold and priced, to how they're collected and recovered.
Does the Fair Practices Code apply to app loans?+
Yes. If the app is licensed as an NBFC or partnered with one (most are), the lending entity is bound by the RBI Fair Practices Code regardless of how the app is branded.
Can I file a complaint with the RBI directly?+
You file with the Banking Ombudsman (now part of the RB-IOS scheme), which is administered by the RBI. We help you draft and file a properly-supported complaint.
Will the lender retaliate if I file a complaint?+
Legally, no — retaliation against a complainant is itself a violation. In practice, properly-filed complaints typically result in better, not worse, treatment.
